theyve always been boring...

The music isn't engaging or anything, but I think having the previous vocalist on this album would be waaaaay more enjoyable.

People have stated before, and I agree, it's a slow burn. What that means for some people is it will click after 2 play throughs, for others it may never resonate. It clicked with me after the 3rd/4th play. There are melodies, there are tasteful accents for all instrumentation, and though the album can blend together, it helps to think of the CD as a three part movement: [matter/mind/reality-energy (first 2 parts ~15min each last ~20min]. Three quality sections which share similar characteristics and ultimately lead to different apexes.
You guys' can disagree and that's cool. I can understand why the counter opinions are formed. If we all had the same opinion life would be boring as f*ck.

No one's bashing djent. I like the gnere. I am only criticizing this particular album for being "average" and not particularly noteworthy.

The only thing even close to djent I've ever liked was Animals as Leaders' debut.

There's plenty of good stuff out there. Skyharbor's debut was pretty sweet. But most of the really good djent is still solo stuff being done by a guitarist in his bedroom somewhere. The internet is a wonderful place.

Revisiting this album for the first time in two months. It's probably slightly better than I gave it credit for, but Ashe really does homogenize everything.

Ha! It really did. And it's sad because the music on the album is definitely cool. I just wish Ashe had written more memorable parts into the song. Nocturne is an easy standout from that perspective.
