Much better review that the previous one. I need to give this more listens, it just doesn't flow from track to track very well.

I kind of hate your writing style, but it's not technically bad I guess

"I was hyped for beefy french house beats, not this electronic disco funk."

As was I, but hating something for sounding different to what you anticipated is dumb, many people have obviously dismissed it already on those grounds. Despite a distinct lack of "oomph", I'm thinking this is pretty sweet. As good as Discovery and far better than HAA.

The album isn't bad, but in no way do I think it keeps itself interesting for its entire run time. It

kinda crushes its self with its own ambition.

I think I like the radio edit of Get Lucky better.

Doin' It Right is probably one of my favorites off the album.

I thought this review was technically very well written, and although some bashing is acceptable or even expected in a 2 review, the way you do it reminds me SO much of the off-putting condescension that shows up in the most pretentious of pitchfork reviews from time to time.

@TMobotron, Trebor17 and people saying this is well written

My less Internet savvy younger sister skipped the illusion and perceived the mediocrity purely.

Sentences like that sound straight out of the thesaurus. Which is an issue that crops up elsewhere in the review, like when he describes some of the vocals as being emitted.

The pulsing rhythm and guitar riff are almost identical to previously released lead single “Get Lucky”, which for the record is a great and fun song in its own right, but not dense enough to provide the blueprint for an entire album.

Not dense enough, what the hell does that mean? Not to mention that the sentence sidetracks the paragraph and makes for a confusing read.

In a sense, these two songs accurately sum up the majority of RAM. Daft Punk was apparently too busy tracking down and hiring forgotten session musicians to write much else than “Get Lucky”. Percussive funk guitars trace the same dancy strum patterns over the same quarter note pulse in the drums, and the chords follow pretty much an identical harmonic rhythm throughout the album. While deviations from that antique dance floor formula are seldom, they do happen, resulting in the aforementioned “Game of Love” and “Within”, two songs whose faux emotion provide achingly cheezy lyrics and unimaginative composition.

Welcome to Daft Punk albums.

Long running times aren’t necessarily ever a bad thing,

Review cliches, great.

All that said, it is the guys first review on this website. Taking that into consideration it is possibly unfair to criticize too harshly. But when you're second cab off the ranks in reviewing a big name album like this (before its actual release date), that can happen to you.

So yeah overall the review reads like a generic rundown of the go-to criticisms that are going to be brought up by detractors of this album. Also it feels eerily similar in parts to negative reviews of previous Daft Punk albums.

Favourite part of album so far is intro to Instant Crush, feels straight out of some early/mid 90s video game. Oh nostalgia.

Staff needs to review this album, both reviews are too one sided. I'm feeling a 3 right now but that's probably because I was expecting too much.

I really like this review-- keep up the great work, especially considering this is your first write-up.

Loved this line: "I hope Daft Punk have huge stupid smiles on behind their opaque future visors."

"So yeah overall the review reads like a generic rundown of the go-to criticisms that are going to be brought up by detractors of this album. Also it feels eerily similar in parts to negative reviews of previous Daft Punk albums. "

I think this is a pretty silly point, man. It's expected for the author's criticisms to be similar to other ones Daft Punk has received in its career, and furthermore, detractors of this album will inevitably have some sort of agreement about the album's weak spots. Just because this review adheres to those doesn't mean it's flawed.

I mean, should we hope he creates new flaws of the record, so that he can talk about them and bring something new to the table? This is an analysis of the music and the hype existing around it, and I see nothing wrong with his analysis

A lot of your criticisms could be directly applied to discovery, homework, and human after all

"cheesy lyrics" - all of the above, over and over

"repetitive crescendos at ad nausea" - all of the above, especially discovery

"simple instrumentals" - all of the above to a degree

I love how you largely avoided the last two songs on the album, which are some of the best stuff theyve ever put out

Omaha its just that the tone he uses is out right pretentious -- the opening story with his sister depicts his opinions as some great epiphany about daft punk music.. Anyone who has listened to daft punk for ages is well aware of their shortcomings and understands that with this record they werent trying to reinvent the wheel.. This was an homage to their roots, and an album that doesnt share the immediate appeal of say discovery. Theres definitely some weak tracks on this album (which he also devotes almost all his attention to) But a 2? If you hate dancing and having fun then sure.. its a 2

Superb review. I hope to see more in the future!

This album is super, super boring though. Production is terrific, and there's a couple of highlights,

but most of it is pretty bland.
