cuz they haven't heard The Lawrence Arms probably
I'll restate what I said in that other thread with Hep Kat: to put Wonder Years in the same ballpark as Lawrence Arms is like Alive or Just Breathing vs. Jane Doe. I mean, they're both do pop punk (LA less so) but they shouldn't even be compared because they yield such different aesthetic values. Same goes for The Story So Far vs. House Boat or Man Overboard vs. Screeching Weasel, etc. The two categories of post-Enema of the State bands are pretty much the whole melodramatic mainstream pop thing and Descendents influenced bands and that's probably how they should stay.
Thank you for mentioning The devil in my bloodstream! Feel that song is so underrated over the rest of the album!
Woah, hell no. Praise for that has been running rampant.

Don't get me wrong, Trebor's one of the coolest guys on this site. Just think genre tags are misleading, that's all.

I don't see anything wrong with the I wanna die in the suburbs line.
In "Teenage Parents", he talks about how his parents were poor and had him early. I see that line as taking pride in his parent's accomplishment of affording a suburban life for their kids.
Their lyrics have always been about battling suburban influence, and struggling to grow as a whole. Something more and more Americans seem to be struggling with. Fuck me for identifying with that.

Yeah man the reason I loved this album was cause I can relate to the lyrics. I do live in the suburbs and they wrote to that audience, if people criticize me for something I had no control over (suburban life) then I really don't care
