This Life and Unbearably White are almost just as good as Harmony Hall

Love the simplicity of Big Blue as well. 2021 and Sunflower are also excellent, but not as good.

sorta weird: chris ott formerly of pitchfork had this video where he talked about getting an s.e. rogie tape and loving "please be easy with me" and that as being one of his introductions to african music and then checking out ezra koenig's college blog "internet vibes" with highlife and soukous music on it and anyways now they've sampled "please be easy with me" on their new album! ok

I like three songs on the new one now I'm trying to find where they are. 'My Mistake' is one, 'Unbearably White' (must be an in joke on purpose using that title?) I think was another.

The first three or four songs are the most anti-Doofcore music I've heard this year, it's almost like an allergic reaction

new album is a total snooze. also worst album art of the year so far.

Also - 'Sunflower' sounds like a barbershop quartet trying to sing the riff from Black Sabbath's 'Iron Man' - it's uncanny, again, an in-joke?

What heck is going on with the first song on the new album? Sounds like it ends 5 times

Few songs have grown on me the way "Ya Hey" has. Never hated the track, just thought it was a bore. I guess something clicked. My main criticism of the band has always been that their music sometimes forgoes emotion for style. But the emotion's often there, just understated, and that track in particular does such a lovely job of it

A third of this album's songs are classics and a lot of the rest are forgettable or kinda bad, really strange vibe

just realized Ya Hey is about that omnipotent bloke from the 4th dimension who hates foreskins. i just thought it was a cheeched ode to alvin and the chipmunks
