contra took me a while to get into, and i still don't think it's all that special, but it has some pretty good songs

I'd give it more credit than that, the songwriting on this is really great I recall. Granted I was a much more impressionable listener when I first heard this so I may feel different now.

This has some very well written songs and generally incredibly detailed and impressive instrumentation. Can't bring myself to love his singing voice though and some songs are inexplicably so much worse than the rest of the album. (Diane Young on the same album as Unbelievers, Step and Hannah Hount? Lol)
