I am still new to this kind of music (post-hardcore & post 2000 "emo"). This is a very enjoyable album. Easy listening to me. I don't know but all the songs have something addicting to them. I also like some of the choruses like in "The Guillotine". It is a normal song until the chorus came for the first time and really woke me up.
For many years I only knew few bands of those genres. Since last year I discovered around 18 bands and there are some good albums there.
To mention a few bands I now know:
Funeral For A Friend, Emery, Thursday, Alexisonfire, A Static Lullaby, Dead Poetic, Silverstein, A Thorn For Every Heart, Taking Back Sunday, Armor For Sleep, Hidden In Plain View, MCR, Escape The Fate, Senses Fail, Saosin, Scary Kids Scaring Kids.
I also like that many of them have albums where most songs (or many) avoid the 3rd chorus. It is nice to hear a band doesn't always go the easiest way in a song.

Good shit dude, this album rules. On that last point, a lot of bands in this genre skip out on the third chorus idea because it's honestly lazy when you could add something else to the song to make it that much better

It astounds how poor a lyricist Ronnie became so quickly.

@y87 Glad you dig this album, its a favorite of mine. If you want more escape the fate don't bother with anything except their ep that came before this.
Out of curiosity how old are you? Its crazy to me that the stereotypical post-hardcore I listened to in high school would be almost like retro-ish for a kid in high school today to be listening to.
@dfevil same ... I still will listen to an occasional new release from FIR but mostly for nostalgia to this.

Who me? I am 30 years old. But I always want to try something different in music. I am always VERY curious when I see reviews on here or something else, or the recommendations I get on last.fm and Youtube.
I love many different genres. My favourite genres are:
post-punk (the 1978 - mid 80s era), industrial, EBM, darkwave & other 80s and 90s goth, ambient, psychedelic (rock & electronic), many different kinds of metal, IDM, trip-hop, jazz, post-rock, progressive to mention a few.
You see I am just very addicted to music. :-D
But in the last few months I got a little bit "calmer" there. I want to take more time on the albums I already have and love and not discover as much as I did the last 10 years. I just have so much music and I think I have more than enough for a while.
There is something fascinating in those post-hardcore / emo bands I mentioned in my last comment, it is hard to explain.

doesn't explain why you keep coming back to this heap of shit tho if you have 17 other bands in that arsenal

Because I just like most of the songs on that album. I know they're very simple compared to the other bands but I don't care. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others aren't allowed to like it.
No need for being rude.
