It does seem a bit more dense, but actually I really liked the relative minimalistic...ness. Of Silent Waters. Everything was so simple and straightforward. This feels like they're trying too hard to recapture that, but they already did it so well.
Still need more listens, hence the non-rating.

A big improvement over the previous one. 'Nightbird's song' is probably the best song, although 'Narrow Path' is sick too.

I really like Amorphis. My top 5 would be something like
Tales
Elegy
Silent Waters
Skyforger
This
If they had more... cosmic evil in their songs, I would love them more, but they are so shamelessly poppy.

Seems legit

Egarran - this one is darker and heavier than usual (ie the Joutsen albums). I think that's what really makes this good as their softer/more melodic stuff isn't interesting enough to carry entire albums; more heavier parts on this really improves the overall album. Great production on here too; that 'somebody broke my bones' part on 'Enchanted by the moon' is epic.

I hear you, maybe I just need to listen to it more, but I don't feel the urge. Whereas I couldn't stop listening to Silent Waters and Skyforger. They abound with epicness.

This album is a mixture of Silent Waters and Skyforger. The album itself is good, but after having listened to both the aforementioned albums in the past, there's nothing to write home about here.
Amorphis should try harder to not make their albums sound so alike.

Listened to this a while back, great album.

Love the clean ascending vocal melodies, Silent Waters was cool if I remember rightly and this is sounding good so far.

Silent Waters is their best Tomi Joutsen-era album and my fav. Most would go with Tales, though.

Yeah this is pretty good, started off real strong but the novelty is starting to wear off now.
A lot of melodies sounds similar.

It's still a riddle to me why they have the doom tag

Elegy is also pretty amazing. At least the Instrumentation is fantastic, but the vocals dont harm the overall feel of the music either, unlike on later releases of this era
