"What kind of a start are "Somewhat Damaged" and "the day the world went away" ? A song unbearably repetitive wich cannot survive its unbeleavably simplistic main riff followed by a song which feels like a closer to an entire album because it is mainly just a four minutes outroduction."
That is an interesting perspective.

Great review. Still a fantastic album, though.
Also, you said at the end of the review, We're In This Together "is also the only song on The Fragile to display a message of hope in its lyrics", yet the title track has hopeful lyrics.

Production wise this is the best NIN album along with Hesitation Marks

The production is very impressive for its time, I just wish the songs themselves were thought-through better.

What....The only flaw of this album is that it would be near perfect if a few songs weren't on it....I mean La Mer, The Wretched, Complication 1.5?? I get we all hate some albums that others love but this is one of my favorite albums.

Nah Brent DiCrescenzo of Pitchfork knows what's up.

ah yes i remember that review
anywho, gonna give this a listen soon, heard lots of great things and love TDS so ya i'm lookin forward to it. tho double albums generally are kinda meh imo

the p4k review of this is absolutely hilarious, the guy spends about 40% of it venting at reznor's image and the album art, and maybe mentions about 4 actual songs in the entire thing
as it goes, this is probably my fave NIN, more melodic and accessible than TDS without losing too much edge
|
| |
also the production/mixing/mastering is in-fucking-credible, what reznor lacks in lyrical prowess he more than makes up for behind the boards

Been jamming this all day. The first disc has some duds but the second disc is consistently amazing.

I agree with breakingthefragile that this is not one of NIN's best works, but it has some great stuff inbetween the fuzzy tracks like Somewhat Damaged, Where is Everybody?, La Mer and the last two Underneath it All and Ripe with Decay
|
| |
yeah somewhat damaged rules
|
| |
Probably my fave NIN track.
