"It's not interesting me so far. It might be that the only DM album that I've ever really been into is Ultra."

wow, not that Ultra is bad, its a great album, but usually people state Music for the Masses or Violator as the "its the only one I can take by them" album.... at least from my experience.

I enjoy Exciter and Ultra a lot more than the majority of their records. I know most DM fans think they are weaker than most of the discography, but I've grown to love them. The subdued, dreamy atmosphere on Exciter is what makes it great and the blues licks and slides on Ultra are lovely.

Given these guys are my favourite of all time, yes, I enjoy all of their albums without question....BUT STILL!

Agreed. That's probably why I can listen to Exciter too.

This is a pretty great album in my opinion. I think Depeche Mode has managed to continue putting out some real quality material long past their era of relativity, and I'm always impressed when an artist can do that.

Yep. Delta Machine is not the type/quality of album you'd expect a 33-yead old band to come up with.

One of the reasons they're my favourite band of all time is their consistency. They don't have a St. Anger/Up/The Final Cut. A Broken Frame, Construction Time Again and Exciter might not be deemed their strongest albums, but there's no godawful crap one.

I actually like Exciter a lot too.

eh for me, the first 2 are terrible and Sounds is average, but the others are excellent.....And I don't get how some people can rate this on here as a 1.5, must have shitty taste or be Wilder fanatics, because, along with The Next Day by Bowie this is the best thing I've heard since early summer last year.

Yep this, Bowie, and Nick Cave have been the highlights of this year...and they're all old as fuck.

Still haven't listened to anything post-Ultra chronologically, should probably change that.

Ultra really isn't that good, relatively speaking.

Relatively, I agree. But as a stand alone album it's quite good. Besides, I'd say It's No Good is one of my favourite DM songs.

So, this is pretty good, eh? I have always thought this band was interesting but never really checked them out fully for some reason.

For anyone who's loving this album as much as myself and wants some more, there are four bonus tracks on the deluxe edition:

'Long Time Lie' - The first proper writing collaboration ever between Dave and Martin. Decent track, nothing exceptional.

'Happens All The Time' - Waves of warm synths, and a wonderful, pensive chorus. Best of the bonus tracks, could have easily been on the album.

'Always' - Starts off like a harsh, bleepy outtake from A Broken Frame, then sweeping strings break out around an uncharacteristically soppy Martin chorus. Great song for all that, though.

'All That's Mine' - Sounds like a visit to Some Great Reward. Standard Mode b-side fare, nice song but it belongs where it is as a bonus track.
