Probably a better place to start to get feel for them. 'Something else' is probably also a better entry point.

I’m also a huge fan of the byrds Alexander but they’re nowhere close

Although I do like that they have their own strain of influence that exists parallel to the beatles’ (Big star? Real estate? Maybe)

I think you could argue the Beatles influence on Big Star too though. Man I love Big Star.

Oh yeah for sure you’re right. I guess I was just thinking sonically/those jangles but yeah I should probably edit that to reflect that almost any band that considers the byrds an influence would be influenced by the beatles just as strongly as well lol

Do you think there's maybe a Kinks influence on Big Star? From a thematic point considering how bitter Third is, and how Davies was super peeved about not blowing up in America?

Lol, true I think it would be hard to find parallel to the Beatles influence :-)

"the Beatles influence on Big Star"

Definitely. Also The Byrds.

"Also, 'Gimme Shelter' alone from the Stones is "better" than any of the songs on your Kinks list."
lol. My list of Stones songs I like is even shorter than The Beatles one, and that one is definitely not there.
"FTFY -- the Beatles might not be your thing but if you try saying they objectively suck I will fucking throw hands my guy"
Throw 'em.
"Maybe I'll check that album J()()()() loves, maybe not."
Which one?
"isnt like half of popular music now influenced by the beatles"
Unfortunately.

Oh. Well, I don't "love" it, I just think it's good. More than I can usually say.
