That's an acceptable opinion. That rating is too low tho
Putting Affenstunde over this is the real hot take

This is quite good, but it also makes me feel like I'm at Sunday mass which is unearthing some painful, long-repressed core memories.

oh, yeah my wife would probably relate to that more than me
although I do get that uneasy moment where part of me must wonder if I'll burst into flames upon entering a church etc. the perils of atheism I guess

As a longtime atheist who has nevertheless been inside of many a religious institution more times than I'd care to count, I can assure you that combustion is highly unlikely. Perspiring heavily and leaving with a mild sunburn, however, is normal.

lol, thought you might enjoy the contradiction of an atheist being ‘concerned’ about such things… in jest, I think. Nah it just makes me feel like a massive hypocrite even being in the vicinity, especially when my annoying, self-sabotaging imagination conjures up some blasphemous extreme metal on a loop… for the craic I imagine.
I draw the line at singing along to the hymns. Respect is shown, then I leave swiftly and quietly. Fortunately these occasions are seldom.

It was basically forced upon me as a child. Went to a Catholic school until eighth grade. We went to mass every week during school and then I also had to go with my mom on Sunday lol. That shit is excruciatingly boring, esp. to a kid. Most of my family is still very religious, though, which makes for some awkward holiday moments. They mostly don't care except for the grandparent generation, though. They for sure think I'm going to hell lmao.

Oh man I can’t imagine that, sounds tough… especially having family believing you’re going to hell! Hopefully they can respect your views given time (doubt it with the older folk though, unfortunately).
Some of my wife’s family are Christian / Catholic but are pretty laid back about it and her current lack of belief… in fact I don’t think it ever comes up for discussion. Her mum isn’t even a practicing Christian, so pretty sure her Catholic dad must be pretty okay with it! I mean she also went to a Catholic school, so it was somewhat ‘forced’ upon her too, but at least once she was old enough that was it, no more pressure. Sounds scary as a kid though, the fear they put in you can last a lifetime.

did anybody else's catechism class include ball gags and cat-o'-nine-tails?
|

Luckily I skipped catechism, I remember my fellow christians going to 2 hours of that while I was hitting the swiming pool by myself. Always thanked my parents for that.
Also this album is so much yes.
