Yea, some guy at my school said that I seemed like someone who didn't know anything about music. Of course he said this behind my back to one of my friends who told me. This is coming from some guy who only listens to metalcore and grindcore bands. He's your typical American hardcore kid who thinks he's so different and cool because he listens to underground core bands.

Little does he know that Scandinavian metal is where it's at This Message Edited On 02.08.07

Wow, that sounds like high school drama. I'm ashamed of myself.

i dunno what school you go to, but not many people around me appreciate grindcore... actually out of the hundreds of people i know. i can probably think of 3. Metalcore can be cool. The typical american hardcore kid doesnt listen to that shit, he listens to that generic power hardcore stuff like atreyu and it dies today. The bland repetitiveness kills me slowly.

Yea, grindcore isn't as well appreciated (I hate it myself), but this guy also listens to a bunch of stuff like It Dies Today. He basically listens to anything metalcore. He even admitted to owning Atreyu CDs, but he said they kind of suck.

The bree bree thing is that pig sounding noise people use vocally in grind. I don't understand how you can label this as emo, thats so ignorant. People on this website should know the true meaning of emo by now. The fact is, that fall out boy shit.. its scene, its not emo. Emo is chaotic, emo is artsy, emo is circle takes the square. This isn't even really that scene. Look at it positively for helping people that wouldn't normally listen to this music find a way to get themselves into the genre. Everyone seems to want to dis on something because its the cool thing to do. And in doing so, you're not any better then the scene kids.

I hate grind. The pig squealing is so irritating. The way I see grind is this: Hey, you just play random notes and chords on the guitar, while he bangs around on the drums, and I'll squeal like a pig and eventually we'll stop playing and call it a song. This Message Edited On 02.09.07

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious, Illuvatar

Well, I can tell you that what I said is actually about spot on as far as grindcore goes.

Edit: BTW, I know Illuvatar was being sarcastic about me writing genre descriptions, but I was wondering if they were being sarcastic about whether or not that was essentially what grindcore was. This Message Edited On 02.09.07

Grind sounds extremely chaotic which it is, but they aren't just playing random shit. It all melds together in a wall of noise that just sounds like shit to most.

I've heard about 5 grindcore bands that sent me friend requests on myspace. They sounded like they were playing random **** to me.

And yes, I 've heard enough grind to know what it is even if I did give a "bad" summary. If I hear a grind band, I would definitely know it was grind though.

True. Needless to say, I denied all their requests.
