Exai might be a colossus, but Untilted is a fucking monster. You do not mess up with it. I have always found very difficult to rank AE albums, because just when I think I have understood an album, I found something that makes me reevaluate it completely. At this point in time either Oversteps or Untilted is my favorite AE album, but I can easily see Exai taking that spot in the near future.

What I love about AE is that every album makes me feel something different and I love them all for different reasons. That said, Tri Repetae and Confield are my least favorite records of theirs.

I can understand some dislike for Confield because of its abstract obscurantism, but Tri Repetae was one of the easiest albums ever for me to fall in love with

apparently Deviant is dead but when he rises from the grave, the following this are guaranteed to happen:

-he will like this mildly

-idk if he'll review it but he'll rate it somewhere in the 3-3.5 range

-the average rating for this album will plummet as the sput masses attempt to mimic deviant's tastes and opinions at every turn.

let us remember the glory days when this had an average over 4

just realized now that it's called "Untilted" and not "Untitled"

that album is actually really awesome. I just need to hear Quaristice and then I'll have heard all Autechre's LPs.

that took me forever to realize too aids. quaristice is a weird first listen, it's goofy and all over the place. but let it sink in, it's wonderful

Quaristice is so weird. Untilted is just godly. Untilted is my favorite Autechre album.

Tbh, I haven't heard them all. And I really don't feel the need either, because I still find surprises with the ones I have - I'm perfectly happy with the selected records I have.

I do that with most band's discogs, actually.

I heard Deviant tried to formulate a pleasantly middling rating for Exai, got caught up in a temporal paradox and is now the premier dark age old occitan troubadour conoisseur at the court of Charlemagne

Eh it's close but right now I'm giving the edge to 005 because a bit more oumph. Last track is absolutely ridiculous.

004 is a bit of an analogue swamp grind at times, but that's perhaps why i love it so

Loving the whole revival thing Karenn, MPIA3, AnD et al having going on these days

Eventually, you need to fix that. You cannot die without having heard all AE albums (and most of their EPs are fantastic.) It may be a daunting task, but you will not regret it.

I am curious as to which albums you have not heard...

I'll probably like most of the ones I haven't heard, I'm pretty sure. I just don't feel the need. Listening to music shouldn't be a chore, as I sometimes get the feeling it is around here. I mean, last year I listened to about 150 new releases (+ older stuff), and while that doesn't seem all that much when compared to some others' music intake, I felt that I didn't get to spend enough time with albums I really liked. So this year, I'll listen to fewer albums, try to really absorb them.

Ae I haven't heard (and this might shock some people): Amber, LP5, Draft, Quaristice and most of the eps except Gantz Graf.
