Iluvatar, you couldn't be more correct.

These guys should rename their band 'Wank', because that's all they do. "Through the fire and flames" is such a horrible video.

Dragonforce >>> Dream Theater

That's funny, because last I checked Dream Theater were progressive rock and not power metal and DT are a far superior band anyway, ah well you learn something new everyday *sarcastic face*

I like Dragonforce more than Dream Theater, but you can't compare the two. There's just no comparisons.

Seeing as how everyone was raving about this, I had to go get out.

Holy ****

I am impressed

The guitar is some of the best I've heard in a long time, I love the video game effects, the drums... The vocals are meh for me. Not that he has a bad voice, but the style of vocals is eh for me. I also heart the bass solo in Body Breakdown.

^^ Yes, the guitar work is something DragonForce does best.

DragonForce... wow. Every song is insane, they certainly give their fans what they want and do not disappoint at all.

Has anyone seen that video on blender.com featuring Herman Li showing how they make all those crazy effects on the guitar? I can do the pac-man noise... I wish I had a wah pedal ^_^

Anyway, a great album, great review. Great musicians and a great band!

I love this album. Sounds exactly the same as the older ones, just with a more polished sound, and more electronic effects, which I think are awesome. DragonForce is awesome... I recommend their live shows to ANYONE.

Just go back up to the top part of this page and read Iluvatar's comment. It's truth if I've ever seen it.

Hm. I would have to say that Iluvatar's statement is the direct inverse of the truth.
Dream Theater owns.

If you look at each of them individually, Petrucci wins. Plus, Portnoy is king of the drum set. If only Labrie would shut the fuck up...

Iv heard Through the Fire and Flames and i liked it. They play FUCKING FAST its not even funny!!! The drummer is beast to. The cheesy sung vocals take awhile to get used to for me. Im so used to screaming all the time.............whatever this looks like something worth buying.

Well, let's break it down...

Vocals - I think ZP gets the win here. While LaBrie has some more variety, his voice is unbelievably irritating at some points. Whilst ZP is mildly irritating all the time. :P

Guitarwork - You can't really compare. Li and Sam (screw his last name) play hella fast and essentially the same style all the time. Petrucci plays hella fast solos and more variety, but his riffs suck.

Bass - The old bassist was better than Myung, but I don't know about this new guy.

Keyboards - Hands down, Rudess. Rudess is just unbelievable at his instrument...

Drums - Portnoy. He can play more than 3 drumbeats, yet I don't think he's the god of drums like most people believe...

So, overall, you can't compare. Dream Theater has more variety, Dragonforce has more goodness IMO.

Hmm...that's true. Dragonforce can keep me hooked a lot longer than dream theater can.

Vadim plays far more advanced stuff live than he does in DragonForce albums (don't have Inhuman Rampage yet, so I don't know how well his work is on there). Mainly because people don't like ripping keyboard solos in songs.

Also, I think the Herman/Sam shred duo is the most technically skilled out of all the "shred duos", except for maybe the CoB one. This Message Edited On 06.16.06

No way does DF's old bassist own John Myung, big deal, Bodt Breakdown is a fun solo, but it's only slap, we havn't seen him tap like a madman like Myung does in Metropolis Part 1, Myung is incredible, but neither come close to Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller and Stuart Hamm.
