You should be glad this is taking ideas from better artists and straying for the sound that made him big.

a change in sound for the mainstream would be nice

At first I thought this but I think I was just surprised at the sound he was going for. After repeated listens I realised just how stale it is. It sounds like someone's first time attempt at a 'dubstep' track. If it wasn't skrillex no one would care

After giving this more listens I can concur though it makes me wonder if he'll be leaving the scene soon. Would have to be incredibly annoying to always carry the expectation of your first few releases around when you aren't really digging the genre or sound anymore and can't seem to shake its stigma.

Probably will end up being a 2 for me or so.

The sad thing is is that I can only imagine the fans who won't outright desert him for not making what they want will probably applaud him for creating something so "new" and "fresh". It's bad enough that he's clearly been listening to the likes of Synkro, Phaeleh and Burial and decided that that's for him, what's worse is how terribly amateurish it all sounds. I think he masked his inabilities as a producer with LOUD NOISES and it kind of worked for him; here his greatest idea is to loop a really boring vocal sample and pitch shift it into oblivion. Nice one Skrillz

That thought of his fans thinking he's innovating with leaving scares me too.

I want to do a Facebook rant but only like three of my friends would understand so I'm just gonna jam FlyLo instead.

The thing is he's really fucked himself with this. If he continues along this path his fans will outright disown him (these edm kids are a fickle bunch, and I'm reminded of the time he posted the aphex track on his fb page), while everyone else will just treat him (as your soundoff makes reference to) him being a shallow bandwagon-hopping motherfucker

I can't believe his fans were really so stupid that they would think an artist's favorite song would have to be the same exact genre of music they make, like what the fuck

I'm fairly sure he'll continue making his typical garb after this. But damn he's losing his ability to make that even remotely interesting. Its like he's copying his imitators.

Such a pathetic producer. My sound is getting old, that's pure truth, so now let's try some Untrue.
