Why the Cliff overratedness? Jason bass lines are fucking beautiful in this, is just that those assholes muted him.

Honestly, Metallica have always had great bassists, and surely more people have an appreciation for Cliff because of his untimely passing, but I'm sure everyone would agree that the band would have probably taken a very different road had he not died.
The thing with Jason is that he had no space in the band. He hardly wrote any of their songs, and he was hardly consulted when making decisions.

Newsted has always been a great bass player. Doomsday for the Deceiver is a definite proof. Clearly, Hetlfield and Ulrich didn't utilize him at all because of their inflated egos.
