"or some alternate reality where we could still have Cliff and Jason... Cliff is Cliff. Cliff is better than Jason. but damn I loves me some Jason hard."
Dude, I feel you, I grew up on the Newsted days. And mannnn, I seriously hate how shitty the rest of the band treated him. Like, it sorta of puts this stigma on those albums, just because I know Jason wasn't getting his dues when he more than deserved them. I mean, come on, the FIRST album he's on anddddddd Lars says "Yeah, turn that bass down, make my drums louder."

"Or Ron Mcgovney... or whatever his name was"
Didn't Mustaine ruin his bass by pouring a beer on it on purpose or something? Also, as we all know, Lars has been the source of every single problem. If I recall correctly, back in the early days he felt threatened by Mustaine because of his camaraderie with James.

that's the consensus yeah but i really don't think james and dave could've coexisted in the band for an extended period of time

I'll say this, I've seen the band multiple times and absolutely NO ONE even came close to rocking out as hard as Jason did during shows.

When Jason was asked about the bass on Justice For All he basically just said that it was a classic record so clearly they did something right - he wasn't being sarcastic either, he was weirdly defensive about the band's choices even though they made him practically inaudible

So as sweet as it would be to get a remixed version of this, i don't think he's gonna be the first to sign off on it
|
| |
yeah idk about that one

I'm not surprised. He was basically a "guest" in the band and since his paycheck was being signed off by the rest of band I doubt he'd dare say anything bad about their decisions.
And hell yeah he'd sign off on a remaster, there's money to be made for him I would assume.

As much as I hate seeing people complain about this album having no bass... I would like to hear it with Jason one time.
And yeah I read that Lars is what is stopping it from happening, not only because of grudges, but because all the master tracks are pretty much ruined because of his million drum tracks
However, I don't think the drum-splicing was a masquerade for his actual skill at the time... he nails these songs on binge and purge

just imagine if Lars was an actual good drummer that could actually play his actual parts in just a few takes, this might not have happened.

"I vote we just throw Lars out of the band."
well they've been done for years now so it really wouldn't do much good at this point

yeah but this was long after he'd left, which is why it was surprising
