The distinction between pre and post Six Ugly is night and day, so I totally get it if you don’t care for it all that much, but I got a soft spot for it and like to hype it if I can.

Vulgar could do with a remaster, great album but the production is pretty horrible.

@BigPleb: That is basically what Mode Vulgar is, turns it from an album which has great songs but horrible production to a superb effort back to front. Hell, you can listen to it without actually watching the show and it's a massive improvement. Shokubeni, in particular, became absolutely disgusting.

Interesting. Better than the one-take version off of the “Hageshisa To...” single?

Yep it's better than that, my fav version of Shokubeni. They showed the album in the best possible light.

Interesting (again). I’ll have to see if I can find if there’s audio of Mode of Vulgar, as I’m more apt to listen than watch...

Just watch it on youtube, easiest way to find it. All of the 'MODE OF...' concerts are available. Definitely worth watching them all, especially the GAUZE one which sounds nearly identical to the actual album but so much better.

Yeah, just get it up on Youtube and listen to it if you don't want to watch the show (although I'd highly recommend watching it too). If you have a JPopSuki account though there is the show in FLAC so you could make a playlist just like the album with audio from the show.

You can also delete the "ube" from "youtube" in the video URL and convert the video to mp3 on the site that appears.

Holy crap, I haven’t done anything like that in over 10 years... used to download and rip GazettE PV’s In GarageBand...
|
| |
For the record, I only know of that because it's an easy way to get at samples to use in recordings!..

Round two down, holding steady at ‘this is cool’ so far. The DM bits remind me of motW’s ‘Bath’ for some reason, I think it’s in the production. It’s a good thing, dynamic but cohesive production can never be sniffed at but it does require me to fiddle with the volume a bit. The difference between the quietest and loudest sections is very (almost too) apparent. Has anyone else noticed this?

no, it should be like that.

It should, but the contrast here is a rather extreme example to my ears.

Maybe because you're not used to the Japanese loudness war? It's common with metal albums over there, everything is a bit louder, even the dynamic stuff.

Kyo’s vocals on Reikatsu Karaseba are mind blowing.

We can name all the tracks on the album and no one would have a wrong answer.

Stuck Man is groovy as hell, the bass sounds amazing on here in general.
