Review Summary: this album blew me away, every song is a master piece in its own stand out way... get yourself lost in the unique and progressive touch that is the one and only coheed and cambria...
coheed and cambria are one of those bands that are just there waiting to be discovered, they are very creative in what they try to achieve... for me this band has always been a stand out, they have a very progressive sound crushed together with some retro sounding hard rock.
this album is the bands fourth studio album and also in my opinion the best one... or at least tied in with (fear through the eyes of madness).
so on to the actual review itself.
these are some of the recommended songs on the album...
track one: (the reaping)... the intro to the album running at only 1 minute and 14 seconds in length proves just how powerful coheed and cambria really are with a very melodic and beautiful acoustic guitar piece and most importantly the soothing vocals of claudio sanchez.
this intro still remains to me one of the most beautiful intro openers to an album of all time. (9.2/10)
track two: (no world for tomorrow)... a fantastic piece of art. this song has so much power and atmosphere to it that i can say i got lost in the technical and beautiful guitar work by travis stever... this is one of the highlights of the album in my opinion, the vocal work is soothing and accessible to any listener, also the vocalist has a very unique sounding voice which gives this band an instant identity. - (8.8/10)
track three: the hound - (of blood and rank)... this for me is also a very stand out track for me with very tight musicianship. i believe that this band has evolved into a piece of its own all together, there is nothing they cant do with a guitar, drums and a bass guitar.
the reason this song grabs my attention so much is because of the infectious chorus that brings a fresh approach to the tone of this album with a bit more of a lighter more up beat song than the first two songs on the album. - (8/10)
track four: (feathers)... this is my Favorite song on the album, and also one of my all time favorite songs, the reason for this is because i just love everything and every second of this track, the vocals are beautiful, the drum work has an almost lamb of god feel to it with the symbol tapping here and there... the guitar work is complex enough to keep the listener happy and entertained. all in all this is my favorite song on the album with a perfect - (10/10)
the one element of this album that i just cant get enough of is the passion and love put in to this album, this is some of the best and most infectious vocal patterns i have heard from claudios mouth, this album has a very unique feel to it just from the name of the band to the cover of the album, with this album you can not go wrong, there is nothing bad on this album.
to me this is their (black album) or their best release yet. the range on this album is even more complex and technical than fear through the eyes of madness.
i recommend this album to anyone who can appreciate a little unique progressive rock with a very 1970s retro hard rock feel to it. i can narrow the sound of this album down to a classic rock album that deserves much more recognition than it has got.
the one thing i will say about this album is that it sounds more like a (fear through the eyes of madness II).
ups...
- the best material by the band so far.
- every track on the album is a stand out.
- it will grow on you extremely fast
- claudio uses some of the most beautiful singing in his career.
- this is one of the best creative albums they have made
downs...
- there are no downs...
