Fuck it. I'm going to write a review for this...
|

I'm sorry, but it's logically impossible for this to be a 4.5 for anyone.
|

Even RTR thinks this sucks. After seeing Warning with a 3.3 I should not have trusted sputnik's view
on Green Day. Everyone is being way too hard on them and acting like they were supposed to change music
or something.

Maybe they figured if they released three crappy albums within half a year people would finally realize they suck.
|
| |
It's a shame, coz the American Idiot musical was actually surprisingly good

yeah definitely above average when you consider the entire musical spectrum

Lol, we're so elite here that everything we discuss is good, but only some is good enough to be trve
good

@TrantaLocked Nobody is acting like they're expecting Green Day to change music,
that's not the case at all. I don't think that making an album with songs that don't
suck and don't sound exactly the same as each other is too much to expect from a
band as experienced as Green Day. You're just setting your standards really low and
aren't being logically fair or realistic, because you're letting your fanboy tendencies
for this band cloud your judgement. You shouldn't accuse people of expecting too
much from Green Day when that is not the case, and also when it's clear that you
yourself are expecting far too little of them to begin with.

I just act like I should enjoy the music I listen to. Anything else is a waste of time.

@Tranta: like you said, even I think this is bad, and I'm as outspoken a fan as any on here. This makes 21CB look like Dookie. Even the best song on here (Ashley) would not be more than filler on Warning or 21CB. I doubt it would even make it into Shenanigans. American Idiot's B-sides, such as Too Much Too Soon or Shoplifter, are about a million times better than the first choices here. I had some hope after !Uno!, I really did. Now I just say: !Tre! better be a corker.
@WhiteNoise: wait, wut? We usually agree on bands, but no way in the seven hells this is a 4.5! Rating it that is an insult to Dookie.

Also, on the band's latest Facebook post, half the comments are "this sucks go back to the old style" and the other half are "I'm not getting this on iTunes, I'm getting it free on Spotify!" LMAO. And then someone compares this album to Generation X - wait, WHAT?!

"This makes 21CB look like Dookie."
DAMN watch out now you're gonna go throw the measurements and scales and everything in the universe all out of whack

I agree the extra .5 is just because I wanted to bump it up a ad but I still stand by this being solid and between 3.5 - 4.
It's a fun album and I enjoy listening to it, that's all I want from Green Day.

"After seeing Warning with a 3.3 I should not have trusted sputnik's view
on Green Day."
That. And the 10 year old haters giving a 1 before the release.
This album is a 3.5, and better than ¡Uno!
But ¡Tre! will be the best.
And 21stCB is shit, nothing can make it look like Dookie

How do you know
|
| |
That Tre will be the best?
I listened 6 leaked songs from ¡Tre! and 4 of them are the best songs of the trilogy.

There are a few really, really good songs on 21st Century Breakdown. It just kind of falls apart
half way through and on.
And by the way, Dos does sound like an extension of Foxboro Hot Tubs, it's just a bit more shallow
than Stop Drop And Roll.
Dos could have and should have been more raw with better, deeper music. The Foxboro Hot Tubs album
really puts things into perspective. Stop Drop And Roll is to Dos! as American Idiot is to 21st
Century Breakdown. I still think Uno and Dos are better than 21st, but not by a lot.
Going back to these other albums, I actually dislike the new guitar tone. I originally thought it
would be a cool twist, but it isn't as striking. Use the crunchy, face-punching tone from American
Idiot and the music automatically becomes more enjoyable.
