Yeah I don't know if it's better than in rainbows. That's a much more impressive album. All I said was The Bends is just my personal favorite.

Great album and quite underrated among their discog (I consider this to be their Undertow, the way they and Tool both completely changed their sound and went more complex). Undertow and The Bends are just straight up rock records done right and with a distinct sound that tells you these bands have a bright future ahead.

This is a fucking awesome album (Street Spirit is too fucking good), but I think In Rainbows still narrowly inches it out.

This album is just proof that Radiohead were better off moving further away from rock music, it’s no coincidence the better tracks here are the lighter more subtle moments. Admittedly it’s a vast improvement on Pablo Honey in that regard, but let’s face it that album is abysmal.

But their best album is a rock one, and their dodgy kraftwerk songs can be lame.

We get it Ghandhi, you're over In Rainbows ;]

I half agree with Demon and half think that Radiohead have always needed a broad palette rather than active non-rock to come up with their best - to which end, this one is v lacking

I was maybe being a little disingenuous with my summation, I mean it isn’t like OKC or IR completely removed all rock elements, in fact both displayed them quite willingly. But they needed to move away slightly, or at least jazz-up the template and arrive at a less rock-centric mix. They only achieved a more satisfying rock sound once it was more art and less alt, which the wider ‘palette’ helped to realise.

Good convo though guys, I like how you all ignored my wall of text in favour of this. It’s OK, you can tell me I’m talking bollocks if you like.
