Most people do, considering it contains some of Radiohead's best tracks mate.

That opinion offends the core of my being lmao. IR is remarkable front to back, it's their only perfect album in composition. AMSP has a mix of some of their absolute worst, most run of the mill, and best material all carelessly stuffed into a product like an after thought

Studio version of IR is just disc 1. Disc 2 is b-sides, it has no business being included in the discussion. Same with the b side discs of kid a and amnesiac. Sure they all have some great (and terrible) stuff but they are not "the album"

Agree to disagree, I guess. For the record I think they're both excellent (4.5) and can essentially swap places day to day.

That much is obvious. My point is that the b-side/disc 2 material was written at or around the same time (or at the very least, it coexisted) and was inevitably, at some point, in the discussion of which songs to include on "the album" track list. Meaning they actively decided to include 'House of Cards' instead of e.g. 'Go Slowly' which is a decision I respect but will never entirely understand.

Tracklisting of AMSP is one of the least effective, laziest, mind-bogglingly incompetent offerings of all time

It's so bad that it effectively neutered all 4 of the last songs, each of which would have merit if they weren't delivered in such a blue balls cluster

Burn the witch into daydreaming is also one of the worst ideas ever, only overshadowed by the idea of having burn the witch on the album at all

Fortunately songs like identikit, ful stop and decks dark are still amazing as long as you cherry pick them and put em in a playlist and then throw the disc into the fire

i can't begin to comprehend how someone could think that, but i'm happy you project your opinion with such conviction. better than most of the baseless shit-takes around here.

It's honestly a more common opinion that the tracklisting of AMSP is absolute trash than that AMSP is consistent, so trust that I'm as surprised as you are

As a selection of singles its fine but hot damn as a whole that album was like a slap in the face

by "consistent" i wasn't necessarily implying that the track list was in the best order, merely that the mean quality of the songs is, in my opinion, greater than that of 'In Rainbows', which has higher highs but lower lows. (of which, those lows are still pretty great, so it's mostly a moot point to argue about this anyway; i love both albums essentially equally.)
