sounds like this might be up my alley. as others pointed out though, kinda annoying how close the name is to cloudkicker. they sound similar, too?

Ehh. Early Cloudkicker more than newer. The jazz stuff that's in here isn't really Cloudkicker material, but the rest sort of follows the same rhythm.

Is Cloudkicker better/worse than this?

I like this better than The Discovery, but I prefer ]]][[[, Beacons, and Let Yourself Be Huge to this.

I'll have to check out some Cloudkicker then. Never really gotten into jazz related stuff until this last week or so.

there's no jazz in cloudkicker, just a bunch of amazing music

this is alright, at points it seems like he doesn't know what he wants to do

My bad, I misread that. Oh well, Beacons is pretty awesome so far.

yea Beacons is amazing, close second for me to the discovery, though everyone else seems to prefer it, give his first 2 albums a go as well, never get enough love

Beacons is brilliant.

I just never liked The Discovery. I tried, man.

I have been looking for some good instrumental rock for a while, but I never really found anything all that appealing. Sometimes a band I will listen to will throw on an instrumental track in an album and I will like it, but it's a rare occasion. THIS, on the other hand, is awesome. I will definitely check out some more of his stuff.

"I just never liked The Discovery. I tried, man."

that's fair, I got into cloudkicker before he was cloudkicker. I grew with The discovery, the map, etc, so they will always possess that original power

a lot of people who are into him more recently started with beacons or let yourself

I got The Discovery not long after it came out (I think), but I was more into Tosin Abasi's stuff (AAL and Reflux), Chimp Spanner, and Tre Watson. It's not a bad album, just lacks direction and melody for me.

He came out with his newer stuff and I knew he was as brilliant as I thought he was.

Cool that you dig it, though, Metallic. There's just somethin' about those albums that come along at crucial moments.

listening to this for the first time right now. Archon has a rational gaze esque breakdown that i love, even if it is blatant meshuggah rip-offery

Hey.

I just wanted to say thanks for listening and I really appreciate the honest review. :D

P.S. - Meshuggah rip-offs are intentional and are, to a degree, commentary on where this "scene" is at musically. Take it
for whatever you will. :D

P.P.S. - I had never heard of Cloudkicker when coming up with this project name. I daresay I regret choosing it because I
could never compare to that dude. Amazing stuff coming from that guy's mind.
