Yeah this and The Bleeding are the best of the Barnes era imo. The brutality from the word go is basically unmatched in their discography here, and it was such a step forward from the debut.

it’s kinda funny that this band became the face of death metal because this album is just so dirty and nasty and brutally dumb. like there’s basically no melody at all, the production is, for regular music listeners anyways, terrible, the vocals are truly indecipherable. it just pummels you into submission with no breaks or stops.
I guess people just really wanted extreme lol

Hyperion, I'd argue Gutted, Vomit The Soul, and Meat Hook Sodomy have some truly iconic and catchy riffing.

oh please dont mistake what im saying, i think it rules. im just saying from like a "general marketability" standpoint, this is about as unapproachable for the general population as you can get.
but i guess that doesnt matter if there are enough people with brain damage like me to buy copies lmao.

Aw man, I think it rules
I like Tomb more overall, but I actually much prefer Barnes vocals here
Also, album art for this and Tomb are peak grossness/dark vibes for them - although Gallery of Suicide and some others come close

^ For the Corpsegrinder era, I'd probably argue that The Wretched Spawn had the most gruesome artwork and lyrics. They really tapped into a lot of the Barnes-era grossness for that one
