"there's plenty more female artists who actually deserve her level of fame,"
Ellie Goulding maybe

Well, you also gotta be able to market that shit though. And there might go your 'artistic integrity'. (for example I think you could hardly market Newsom or sth. alike)

Are you talking about Adele now?

"Are you talking about Adele now?"
He was being rhetorical.
"Obviously not because then I wouldn't have said it would I"
You know you come off incredibly pretentious by putting that "obviously" there?
Either way, point is: saying someone should be famous instead of someone who's famous and then going with somebody who already has a similar status is redundant.

she sucked at country
it's not selling out; it's a case of not being dumb

going where the money is, she was always a POP star, she never really was country, I mean srs.

Album Rating: 2.0
She was never doing straight forward country though. Especially not lyrically. Then again, I'd rather listen to "Big Iron" than the large majority of modern country. Still, the tendency towards pop was always there.
"cat power, keren ann, grimes, marissa nadler, sara bareilles, feist."
lol, you can most definitely not sell grimes to the masses, nadler neither. Don't know Bareilles, Power and Ann.
Not gonna comment on Feist.

why not sell doug to the masses?

Album Rating: 2.0
Well, Marissa Nadler hasn't really progressed a lot as an artist either. And Grimes.. I really don't know what to think of Grimes. And yeah, Wolfe is also out of it.
