it’s not pizza. at one point his dad says “you keep losing my damn dominoes!” implying that it happens regularly. a Dominoes pizza is not something you can lose more than once. case closed

counterpoint: kendrick and his friends made a right, then made a left, then made a right, then made a left, they made a right, they made a left, then made a right, then another right... perfectly plausible they could've lost a pizza along the way

The worst thing about this album is that the recipe isn’t the actual closer

The thing is, TPAB is an ~important~ album

probably his most ~important~

But It’s also a bit of a mess

This isn’t as ~important~

But it’s also kind of way better

the fact that this doesn't feel the need to be an Important Generational Statement and can just be about the stuff that means the most to Kendrick is exactly what makes it better imo

that plus it's just better sequenced and funner overall

Poetic Justice is still ass tho

For me, Poetic Justice has definitely lost its magic. It has a very smooth rhythm and some nice bars, but I find myself skipping it on my full album listens.

This album feels like a memoir--the full life's story of a man who has lived and died and then been reborn again. Too bad that Kendrick is really cocky now, imo. I guess that chip on his shoulder is kind of his thing, and at the very least he is self-aware of that.

but seriously the non album tracks from this era are possibly better than most of his album stuff since. Cartoon and Cereal, The Recipe and Black Boy Fly are untouchable
