I think we had a similar conversation on your Insomnium thread. I'm not on my computer so I cant watch youtubes right now. That's my only problem with melodeath is the vocals. I loved the guitars of Insomnium, but the vocals drive me a little crazy.
Is there a style that has similar music to melodeath but with more of a post hardcore type of vocals?

Oh we did? haha can't think of anything off the top of my head.
@xingking, thanks for the link sounds pretty cool so u used to be in this band?

I was the vocalist and rhythm guitarist at the point of this recording. I was the vocalist/bassist before we realized that I played guitar better than our actual rhythm guitarist. Also, the song is about building an army of machines out of humans and at the end, I am screaming about my flesh being burnt off while being replaced with metal and acid.

Bummer. I had actually never listened to melodeath until I read your Insomnium review. Tbh, I'm not even sure I knew it exsisted. I definitely never heard folk metal until I got on sputnik.

Damn lol pretty impressive growls bro. So u don't make make music anymore?
|

I still make music, but I really don't like metal anymore. I write hardcore/post rock now in my own solo project. I'm working on a concept EP right now and some of my friends and I have been jamming the past few weeks writing some post rockish stuff too. We are hoping to record it next week, so maybe I can post it for you.
You can hear some horrible and rough demos here www.myspace.com/rotfs
Ignore me looking like a faggot. I am much cooler now, of course.

Yea, I was pretty set on buying either Whoracle or Jester not too long ago, but I just couldn't get past the vocals and decided not to. Maybe if if I just keep giving them a listen here and there I will get used to it.

Check this out, Ecnalzen. Melodeath/thrash with a very hardcore vocalist.

Ha alright man I'll check the link out later
|

That's cool, Xing. It has a very hardcore punk sound to me. I like it. The intro sounds just like the intro of a Slick Shoes song.

Actually, Atari... You may like Slick Shoes. They are kind of a melodic hardcore/pop punk band. It's a weird sentence to write, but that's pretty much what they do. All clean vocals though. The song I posted is from the only album I have by them, Far From Nowhere. It's awesome, you should check them out.
|
| |
@Ecnalzen, yeah man I've heard slick shoes used to listen to them back in the day but thanks for reminding me of them!
|
| |
Yeah, no prob. I love Far From Nowhere. Haven't heard anything else tho. I was super bummed when I found out they broke up. I heard they were getting back together not too long ago, but I don't know when they will start workin on new material.
|
| |
Oh really that'd be cool. yeah i used to listen to mxpx and slick shoes a lot lol
|
| |
Me too. Used to love MxPx, but I can't really stand them now though. Not really sure what happened there....
Anyway, you might also check out Autopilot Off's album Make a Sound. It came out around the same time Far From Nowhere did. They are another defunct band that has just gotten back together.
Here's a pretty bitchin song off it (if you have never listened to them):

Lol I have make a sound too haha used to listen to nothing but pop punk
|
| |
Ha ha, I was trying to give you some of my more obscure stuff, but looks like you listened to it too. You and I would have probably gotten along great in high school. I listened to those two CDs a ton when I was younger, they're both great. Still throw them in every now and again.
|
| |
Actually... I have one more. They aren't as good as Slick Shoes and Autopilot Off, but have you heard No Motiv?
|
| |
Haha for sure good taste my good sir and I've heard of no motiv but haven't actually heard them so I'll check them out
