I'm pretty confused...I can't tell if I really like this or I really don't. Some parts are really dumb but the solos/some of Corey's vocals are really impressive and better than anything I've heard from them. I don't know what to think.

@Cipieron- definitely his harsh vocals are not ANYTHING as good as Slipknot's first album (which I admittedly kind of enjoy) but I dig his clean vocals on this...well, a lot of the time. Sometimes he just sounds like shit.

On their David Bottrill produced 4th LP 'House of Gold and Bones – Part 1', Stone Sour not only tackle a concept album for the 1st time, but try their ambitious hand at a double concept album (of which, this is the 1st part). More raw, dark & aggressive than their previous 2 releases, the narrative initially adds focus & listener involvement. Unfortunately, the LP is very front-loaded, with the 1st 3 tracks arguably being the best. While never scouring any great depths & being deceptive growers, too many latter half tracks simply lack the hooks to make them distinctively memorable. Recommended Tracks: Absolute Zero, A Rumor of Skin, Tired & Gone Sovereign.

Their best next to the self-titled. I hope part 2 is just as good if not better.

This was pretty good, but as stated before, Corey sounds like he's trying too hard in some parts, especially in taciturn. But this still has me looking foward to part 2

@Cipieron

Sounds like you were listening to this album whilst writing shit about it everytime you heard some bad lyrics. Why were you still listening when it's bad?

I personally enjoyed this album.

Great band. Wish this album had more heavy songs like Gone Sovereign and Absolute Zero, but Tired, Influence of a Drowsy God, and Taciturn are great slower tracks.

HOGAB 2 is better

Nah I'd prefer this. HOGAB 2's tracks have a tendency to blend into each other. This one is more varied in regards to instrumentation.

I'd have to agree with that statement, but I love them both equally.
