Yeah, I use it too. I still like buying me a physical album or at least having an mp3 album if it's something I really like. Once in a while I buy something on a whim with only hearing a few songs (usually because I randomly find it and it's cheap), but it occasionally doesn't work out.

I've been listening to Self-Starter a bit today

The groove is quite, even though I'm not too big on the production, and the I like the singer's
voice

Wasn't big on Cities(3) but I'm gonna give this a try

I noticed quite a few people ragging on the production, never really noticed anything negative about it myself.



You might give Intentions a try too, Gwyn. It grooves as well.

Well, I've only heard Self Starter, but my problem raises from how the instrument sound

Every single one of them is muddled and sonically expanded(is that the correct term?English isn't my
native language lol) to give a false sense of "epicness" on rather simple and straight forward
riffs

This is mostly noticable in the chorus

It's not a big deal though, but it took a little while for me to get used to it, I prefer more a
"raw-ish" production(it also has to do that i'm acostumed to harsh sounding riffing lol)

Still, I enjoy the singer's voice and the drumming is great, so I'm interested in seeing what the
rest
of the album does for me

Christian is definitely the high point of the band, but everyone in it is talented.



I think I see what you are getting at, but I have never really had an ear for production. Took some classes in college and couldn't really get the hang of it (had difficulties with mixing and whatnot). If you feel inclined to do so, you could link something with a more 'raw' production sound.

@Ecnalzen: yeah man when this first streamed I talked to a lot of people on Sputnik that ragged on the production, but I still stand on the opinion that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the production. I like it better than New Surrender's production.



Putting this on in 5, 4, 3, 2,

"Raw" just basically means a sound devoid of extensions, building an atmosphere/wall of sound entirely with the instruments

In other words, like it wasn't edited on studios, lol

A good example of this is At the drive-In "In/Casino/Out", which was recorded with a live studio sound to help capture the sound from their live shows

To me, (correct me if I am wrong more production savvy ppls) over-polished means taking something that isn't too remarkable and slapping some extra coats on in the studio to try to make it seem like more than it is. Kind of like throwing a bunch of seasoning on a really bland meal to try to give it some more flavor.

I don't have any problem with polished production, but the key is in the word you use, OVER-Production

Sometimes it's just too much, for me

Anyway I just heard this
Very good, full of catchy moments and energy

Probably not something that will stick with me for the rest of my life or anything but I'll give it more listens just because it's really catchy and fun

Glad you like it and were willing to give it a shot. I think they are a fun, consistent and quality rock band. I have been enjoying this band for the last 10 or so years.

I think I know what you mean, gwnyn, but I wouldn't call it "epic" or aiming for anything like that. It's their style, and personally I love. It's why Modern Age is still a 4.5/5 track despite the voice effects.



As for the production as a whole, I still don't understand the disdain for it. It's definitely polished, and there's a lot of little things going on everywhere (which is why I understand why people would say this is overproduced) but it's not thatt big of an issue, at least for me. And without all the extra production, something like 'Other Side' would be a huge snoozer.
