Wilson's lyrics have improved two-fold from Fear of A Blank Planet, where he hit lyrical rock bottom, literally writing songs about kids sitting in their rooms playing video games.

this comment is kind of stupid. the downfall of kids entertainment is the point of the album. if you aren't claiming that said point is inherently bad for an album to tackle, and that would be a very dumb thing to claim, then there's no reason why he shouldn't write about it. just shrugging it off as the worst lyrics ever without giving any legitimate reason is even offensive, because I happen to think the lyrics on FoaBP are excellent.

I didn't just want to neg without explaining why, so that's why.

It doesn't really matter what concept the lyrics tackle, they are just terribly executed.

Compare some previous PT lyrics to this album mind and this one looks like a work of fine literature

"Basically copying and pasting their formula to create a degenerate, vapid and repetitive version of their sound, In Absentia was a shocking fall from grace after the awe-inspiring Lightbulb Sun. It's easily their most polarizing record-despite being their highest rated album on the site, its detractors have their reasons for straying away from it, all of which are justified. Wilson continued to churn out his vanilla prog metal through most of the 2000's, until early 2008 when a road sign (yes, you read that correctly, a road sign) inspired him to create a long, winding double album made up primarily of one song"

came here to rile, but this is actually based. pos!
