association with metalcore will always get you hate from the people who lived through NWOAHM but never grew up afterwards.

I've moved on from listening to lots of prog, but the unbound creativity on this record always makes me smile.

I've never really thought about what my fave BTBAM album is, but it's probably between this, Parallax I, and TGM.

Interesting. I can't really argue with that, their Top tier albums are so consistent that it's pretty hard to choose one over another. But I will agree that Automata I and Coma aren't in the conversation.

Colors is and will always be my favorite BTBAM album. The shit they pull off on that one stills marvels me.

Aside from that one I'd say my favorite is Alaska still, though TGM and this one have been slowly catching up to it.

Agree, Parallax II is their worst album, just some random riffs and monotone vocals, deserves a 2.5 or 3 at best. Colors is their best, it has Sun, Ants and White Walls, nuff said

Interesting that you should say that. My drummer and I love BTBAM and it's a big reason why we started playing together. Our bass player on the other hand loves Yes and Chris Squire (the the extent that he has a Rickenbacker headstock tattoo and primarily plays a Rickenbacker) and hates BTBAM.

oh the irony Sitar bro

I'm an old schooler and my favorite bands fall in the classic era with the likes of Maiden, Rush, Yes, etc..

If I had to pick a favorite band from the 'newer' school, it's probably these guys

Great band

Yeah he's an old schooler too so he grew up on Rush, Yes, Genesis and Kate Bush, so not really a metalhead even though the rest of us are. He does love Bent Knee, Kindo and Jolly though, partly because they're local and he's their friend/unofficial chef lol.
