Sparrows Fall is becoming one of my favourite short songs by them, the riffs just progress so nicely

This is the first Converge album I've liked first listen. I feel like it's more linear and tuneful, if that's even a good descriptor. Nice work by them.

album is weaker than Jane/axe/petitioning but still good. Currently at a 4. might drop to a 3.5

I get the sense you hate all hardcore, MO?

well I got into osdm and dm in general first
so when you try and go from that to basically a whinier form of music it doesn't bode too well. to me (and I could be totally off the mark) I see hardcore as a heavier style of punk (which i'm not the biggest fan of as it is) so yea
also I remember going to a show where some hardcore bands were playing and I mean their energy is cool and all, I get what they're doing, but the way the fucking kids kick and punch the air and act all br00tal just rubbed me the wrong way, it's pretty laughable
that being said that botch album is decent

"the way the fucking kids kick and punch the air and act all br00tal just rubbed me the wrong way, it's pretty laughable"
lol agreed. can't stand that gay shit.
I guess what drew me to hardcore is the sort of upbeat energy a lot of the tunes have to them. Which I'd say comes from it's punk roots, like you said.

aren't people doing similar stuff on dm concerts though?

no we just run around and smash into eachother, pushing eachother around all in good fun, some guys take it a little far but not often
we're not trying to punch and kick eachother in the head

I thought the brocore and Deathcore were the dancing jackasses most hardcore shows I've been to involve everyone rushing in Front screaming lyrics and people jumping on each other

^true. When I saw Converge a few months ago it was mostly that but there were a few hxc kids doing that punch the air bullshit; they got told pretty quick to stop being queefs.

haven't been on too many concerts but I think the br00tal br0's you dislike are just an annoying minority. Last concert I was to there were some kids taking off their sweaters and jumping around swinging their arms like windmills and shit but for the most part it was like you describe. Maybe you were just unlucky

Yea you have to see bands like acacia strain or emmure or anything with WAY too many breakdowns then you'll have those kind of kids by the thousand, hardcore shows are some of the mot fun shows I've been too and yea majority of kids get told to stop that shit if they try it

I don't think "inaudible" is the word you're looking for to describe the screaming on Trespasses.
Otherwise great review for a great album.
