whoa, a 4.5. idk, i mean i like this well enough atm, but i think axe to fall is the much better album in terms of musicianship and innovation. i'll take more time with this though.

lol riff didnt you say no heroes is really good at one point dude
i think you are confusing albums, axe to fall is fun and brilliantly put together and no heroes is the one that breezes by with 0 impact and even a few terrible hardcore songs

no heroes is better than axe to fall by a considerable way. it's got tons of raw energy and then when gh/br comes on it just builds up from nothing into this powerhouse of hardcore omg it's so perfectly executed. axe to fall takes an entire album to do that

"I feel like axe to fall flows really poorly as an album but each to their own"
agreed. well not really poorly but definitely in a relative sense

gh/br is awesome
the title track is great
i even like orphaned a lot
the rest of the album is ineffective, sort of dry, unmemorable and in some places, shitty, to me
though axe to fall is the least raw converge record, and even though its possibly their least personal because of the multiple guest appearances (which are all great btw especially von till's omg), i still find it to be incredibly well paced, memorable, and an absolute riff frenzy. i also think its got some of the most memorable and killer under 2 min songs theyve ever done. its definitely the least raw and punk converge record, but even with the 360 they did with style and even the way kurt produced it, i still think it's an incredible record. and i think the last two tracks are brilliant and end it so epicly. converge are pretty much my favorite band but i sometimes get pissed because they don't end albums on the best note sometimes but atf does that for me.

respectfully disagree. axe to fall is just a really fun metal album with some impressive innovations. no heroes is extremely dull and the guitar work (while very impressive in parts) is pretty uninteresting. but gh/br is indeed awesome - trophy scars rules too.

yea axe to fall is definitely not for the typical converge fan methinks but it's definitely more varied and better paced than nh, and there's pretty much no filler which nh reeks of
i mean nh is prolly still about a 2.5 but idk it kinda just sucks to me

prob a 2.5 for me as well, just for the few tracks i do enjoy. axe to fall is a high 4.5, but you fail me will always be my favourite converge album.

yup atf is so fucking awesome i totally agree.
jane doe is the best no question really and there seems to be a select group thats fave is yfm, i think yfm is really great and the atmosphere is sick but theres too many skippable tracks for a 30 min album
