I've listened to this a few times, it's growing, probably a high 3.5. Clean vocals are very good. Bass is dull though.

Do you really give a shit about the bass on a bm album?

"Do you really give a shit about the bass on a bm album?"
Not really a hardcore BM fan, more inclined towards prog, so yeah the bass matters. Also this is prog inclined.
|

This is basically just prog metal with shrieked vocals.

Yeah it's pretty far from the typical BM affair. His vocals are weird-ish, but yuo get used to them.

Well yeah it's obviously very prog influenced, but still some bm in there.

Opeth aren't really considered DM, and I treat Enslaved the same way in regards to BM

Eh I'd say Enslaved is more bm than Opeth ever was dm. These guys played strictly black/folk metal for their first 5-6 albums.
|

I guess so, since Opeth always had prog in them.
In regards to the clean vocals I actually prefer Grutle's to the keyboardist's, they sound a lot
darker when he does cleans.

Grutle is one of my favorite bm vocalists. Always has been.
