Agreed, I loved leaving meaning more than most and the Beggar was a great mix of seer darkness and dirge with the ethereal touches of leaving meaning.

leaving meaning is underrated, I am still very puzzled by its lukewarm reception
it was the perfect choice for Gira to move forward after the trilogy

Because some people act like the trilogy is the pinnacle of music, so it was 'disappointing.'

In many ways I also think that about the trilogy, but you're right; leaving.meaning should be judged by its own merits.

My opinion on this one has softened, but I still feel that it is more meandering and less refined than its follow ups. "The Seer Returns," "93 Ave. Blues" and "Apostate" are great, but this one feels more like a template for the others than a complete work (for me).
