Currently listening to all the main Swans records for the first time and I have to say this one is by far my favorite so far. Truly some apocalyptic shit right here. Hits the spot for me

Good shit man if they ever make it to your country you should see them live. It’s a really loud experience

So I was told. Though I have to hear the newest one and see if I like it. From what I've seen they never play old songs

Correct. I saw them tour this and to be kind. The crowd just stands there and watches.

I read Gira himself doesn't even wear ear plugs when playing live and as a consequence the dude is deaf as shit lol.

Seeing this band live earlier this year in a crowd of less that 500 people was a highlight of my life. I was up against the stage and every time the kick drum hit my knees bounced off the stage wall from the wave that travelled through the wood. Totally awesome

nu-Swans has been growing on me due to The Beggar, but this is still my least fave. T/t is awesomely nasty tho

Hmm I think this is the best new Swans but don't like the t/t all that much. Second disc is where it's at

Different opinions is all. The monster tracks across these four records are generally the best of the bunch, I feel (exception being 'She Loves Us' off of TBK).

I spent so much time listening to this back in 2012 that it'll never be anything other than the best Swans for me. I used to have this awful commute to work, I'd usually get a song into disc 2 by the time I got to work and then finish the album on my drive home. I probably listened to this daily for the better part of 3 months =D That said, the new one is underrated and probably the best Swans since this one. TBK is kinda boring =(

I don't know if I'd say TBK is boring (some tracks are better than others) but 100% The Beggar is being slept on here. I understand it has a different structure to previous records, but I feel it works well, like being rollercoaster incline that just keeps ramping up until it plummets straight to the core of the earth. Also, 'The Memorious' is one of the best Swans songs and would be a perfect note to go out on should they never make another record.

Yeah The Beggar is fantastic. One of their best in the catalog to be honest.

It combines the approach of the trilogy with their middle era stuff which is pretty much perfect for me.
