The Seer is really tight, I agree with Michael Gira when he said this is the definitive musical statement oh the Swans, Soundtracks for the Blind is brilliant in some parts but much more messy, without a point to make, it finally goes nowhere, To be kind is not as consistent. The Seer is a nearly perfect crafted album with a huge emotional impact, the sound landscapes are breathtaking...
Last three tracks are magic, Avatar, a Piece of sky and the Apostate.
Truly one of the greatest albums of the new century, probably in the top 3.

Yeah I agree that this is far more coherent than Soundtracks. I feel that's a little overrated to be honest

This and White light are better than Soundtracks imo but it's close.

Soundtracks and Cop tbh
Children has never appealed to me that much and is a bit boring

thread reminded me I always forget that White Light From the Mouth of Infinity has some amazing gems on it and I need to spend some more time with that album
I've spent a lot of time with Children of God though, shame you feel that way

I'm just not a huge fan of Jarboe and I think that's what knocks CoG down for me a bit

I should reiterate: it's not a bad album, but drags a bit too much. As a 45 minute record like the prior ones, it would've been their best yet. Although, it tries to put too much content into a record with very little to work with. A very nice transitional record, if anything.
