To me they didn't get any better than 1 and 3 here. I've never heard anything like it. It's so loose yet has so much urgency and momentum.

I keep hoping that what are considered their classics start clicking for me but it hasn't happened yet. What's your fave at the moment?

I've only heard the new one, Axioma and this one. Of the 3 I think I like Axioma the most, but I only heard the new once and I really liked it.

Ah so you've just started on your Enslaved journey!

I think one aspect that I don't like of the post Below The Lights era is that I don't hear that same sense of urgency and impetus in any of the records any more. Can't really explain it better than that, to me that energetic punch is missing or something. Don't hear that criticism from anyone else so it must be me but it's true, sadly. That, and the saddest thing happened, where the vox lost their rasp and turned into a croak. Hate it when that happens.

I think this might have turned into my favorite Enslaved. I don't know why. I haven't listened to it in 5 years or so, but it's just hitting the spot right now.

Same, it's my fave too. Very unique album.

Run from this through Monumension and Below the Lights are all super interesting as, like, this slow mutating sound trilogy twisting early Enslaved into late Enslaved

To be honest, those three are the only ones I come back to and the only ones I need.

I can respect that, but your 2 on Axioma makes me feel very very very sad, Trif :'(

Sorry guys! I've tried multiple times too, during different seasons and everything. Perhaps the time has come for another spin, might give it a try next week. It feels so weird too since it's such a well respected album (and band for that matter).

Yeah, I hear you, and you gotta like what you like. Axioma never felt tied into a particular season for me, more like dark room night time listening when all the cool little underlying sounds sneak up on you.

Axioma just has so many of my favorites of theirs. Ethica odini, raidho, lightening

This is my fave Enslaved. It might be a 5.0 actually, the guitar tone here is insane and I've never heard anything like it. It's so super nicely distorted, sharp and crunchy and it packs a punch.

I love everything about this record.
