Get on it Chippy! Glad you like it so much. Was thinking it may not have had enough of "The Catchy" for you.
How dare you run down James Blunt. Blasphemy. Haha. Nah, I agree with you all. Just didn't think my joke was going to turn into a discussion point. You guys are deep!

I remember when I was REALLY into these guys when they released The Silver Cord way back in like 08 or something. I wasn't a fan of Vagabonds, and have kinda moved away from them. But, it's great to hear that this is good stuff. Will check it out, even if only for nostalgia's sake.

Definitely worth a listen. Who knows, it might have been 'Vagabonds' that made you steer away from them & the style of music.

vagabonds was pretty dissapointing, though its grown on me a tad

I actually liked it, but I definitely understand why people were disappointed with it... Since it seemed a relatively big departure from where they appeared to be heading on 'TSC'.

This album sounds so Davey! ;]
I like this album for sure. Really cool stuff, but not terribly memorable on the first listen. First track to blow me away was Heaven & Hell.

Also, I'm confused as to how Emery didn't get recommended here, but Muse did! Listening to "Dead Rose," and it's very reminiscent of In Shallow Seas.

The best utilization of a curse word in a song I've yet to hear is Panic! At the Disco's "I'd chime in with a haven't you people ever heard of closing a god damn door no"

Davey, this is plenty plenty catchy. Like very catchy. James Blunt sucks, though.

This album does sound so Davey... In that superb albums are so Davey. ;-)
It's definitely a grower Omaha & there aren't many albums with multiple songs that blow anyone away. Personally, the middle 4 do blow me away though.
Forgetting the Muse inclusion (which is more on feel & pacing than anything else... Plus, they're low down on a long list), I don't see much of a resemblance to Emery at all. I've seen them mentioned elsewhere with some of their older albums - and maybe 'The Question' - could be cited (but have always thought that was more of a lazy "They're both Christian Rockers" comparison). I don't see much of 'ISSWS' here at all... Although, the way 'Dead Rose' & 2 or 3 of the pacier others have a kind of propulsive nature does remind of a couple of tracks I guess.

I'm not sure I even agree that damn is a curse word.

It's "goddamn." You're not supposed to use the Lord's name in vain, so by it's very definition, "goddamn" is indeed a curse word.

Who would have thought Panic At The Disco would ever be mentioned as a front-runner for use of a curse word in a song.

Maybe all of their scene girl fans who thought they were so hardcore for saying goddamn in pop music.

I don't think you guys are understanding me just right, which is probably a failure on my part. I mean it's the most effective use of a curse word I've heard in popular music. You didn't expect it. You remembered the chorus because of it. It grabbed your attention.
On the other hand, bands who use curse words liberally really sound like they need a dictionary to help them express what they're feeling.

Davey, the main thing that reminded me of Emery was the vocal harmonies in "Dead Rose." There were other elements, but that was the most prominent one.
