Well man, my point was that at times--and I never said that ALL of the metal community or even anyone

here--metal fans base their opinions on appearanceYou can't really deny the existence of people out

there that really do care whether a black metal band uses corpse paint or not.

Honestly, it's all subjective. I agree that BMTH overall is pretty mediocre, but my point is that

the same people having intense hatred over this random, mediocre band are the same ones lavishing

praise upon some equally mediocre death metal band--so their opinion is just as much based on image

as the tumblr girls that love BMTH. That's my whole point and idk why it's so controversial. If that

doesn't apply to you then no need to get upset, haha. It doesn't even make sense why anyone would

care about that line either. It wasn't aimed at them, it wasn't personal, so idk why they all made a

big deal out of it, but it is pretty amusing.



At any rate, I don't think they look stupid. It got them tons of fans and basically made them some

cash, so more power to them for making it work. Music business is weird and flashy stuff sells, you

know?

Believe me I dont like mediocre death metal bands any more than mediocre metalcore bands. I think both genres have kind of hit a creative wall. Theres still good music to be made in them but its pretty hard to be original these days.

Well yeah Yankee, you seem like a pretty chill guy so you "get" what this review was all about. It was

just poking fun at people who take metal too seriously and can't see the humor in the genre.



That's all there ever was to it, haha. Anyway, for me it doesn't really matter if it's original or

not. If you dig it you dig it and if you don't, you don't. The "point" I was making was just that some

people seem to get too invested in the things they don't like and sometimes base it on image without

realizing it. Like I said, it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular and definitely no one on this

website since I don't know any of y'all, though I kinda suspect some of the people responding to my

review are the same ones spending hours telling 12 year olds in Malaysia to listen to "real metal".

Originality is kind of important to me. I dont like listening to a bunch of bands that sound the same, which I why Im a fan of so many different genres. I mean some bands can play the generic sound of their genre very well even if its not original and still sound good, but I still like to hear something about the band that makes them stand out amongst the pack. Mayhem was definitely one of those bands along with all the other early black metal bands. Theres a reason the pioneers of a genre are usually the most famous.
