I will 3 an album I hate if it had a lasting impression I none the less have benefited from. Dio - The
Last in Line for example, just because I personally feel it is 80's shit metal I still fully
understand it's probably influence on 90's metal albums I do like. Credit where credit is due and all
that.

I guess I see what you're saying now. I still believe a rating should be based more on your personal enjoyment of the album and somewhat on it's creativity rather than it's influence (for me an example would be Nevermind, I can't stand that album save for the singles), but I get where you're coming from.

objectivity exists in music only in the form of influence and technicality , but I still don't think influence should up the rating simply becuase that rules out any low rating as wrong. You can't really argue against influence so that basically makes it impossible to dislike any album that's important. that defeates the point of rating an album at all if you know what I mean

I believe in the possibility of my fallibility and or bias. If a lot of people really like it and I don't there must just be something to it that I don't see. I think that to be an acceptable POV but I can see why some might prefer to do it the other way. I just cannot see this being a 2 without some ulterior motive than to just point out that you don't dig it.
