i liked the singles pretty much across the board

yo i can hook it up for you too rom, if you're interested.

and idk, i've only had one listen but i can say that it hasn't grabbed me the same way this or vessel did after 1 listen. the hooks are pretty weak, the synths are kind of eh a lot of the time. after the initial spin i actually think the singles stand out as the best songs. it's worth noting that the singles have grown on me a lot since i first heard each of them, so maybe the album just needs some time to marinate

Are there more cringey chorus vocals?

after 1 pass, star scream seems pretty cringe - particularly the "dee dee oh do" and "oh oh ohhhh"s are pretty annoying. my issue is more so the choruses are just rly boring to me (think rock off)

came out of rating retirement just for lore. that closing track is one of the worst things ive ever heard. dts reminds me a lot of shabazz. uninspired and unfocused drivel made for a quick cash grab and out of sheer boredom from the pandemic. even zavala is on autopilot, which shouldn't surprise anyone given he looks like hodor in the ayeman music vid

there have been hints and clues scattered throughout their discog that they'd eventually make an album like lore. we all know onry is a weak emcee but somehow he has done a great job with the excellent selection of beats zavala has given him, though in the process, constantly treading a fine line between catchy and cringey. remember rock off and Great Dane? yet the good always outweighed the bad by a considerable margin. not only that but onry had a significantly better cadence/flow on vessel and anx.



flash forward to lore. onry sounds bored and even quite awkward when he tries to deliver faster lines, Ritalin really comes to mind here. word play has always been so borderline mediocre, but again zavala either saves the day with an unbelievable beat, or onry makes up for it with awesome delivery. though on lore onry's wordplay is absolutely embarrassing. that stethoscope line on ayeman reminded me a lot of track e.r. from vessel. especially when onry says "he won't swallow for nobody", always laughed and was kind of repulsed by that line and chorus but he made it work with a great following verse about the dangers of illicit drug use- a focused theme throughout vessel. yet, there is no such creative verse on ayeman and instead we get the beginnings of what will be the recurring theme of downright awful choruses that litter this album. it also further shows the lack of direction. this really is a "scattered brain" album with no focus or structure. it was cute that they tried tying in all three major releases with the return of the same album opener beat, but this shamefully falls flats on its face.



still though, onry could have been saved by his strongest most loyal lifeline in the form of his producer zavala. yet, he has no such luck as the usually stellar producer fails to break his lowly emcee and compadre out of the prison he made for himself constructed by bad lyrics and snore level flow. look, zavala is fine here, and no one could have saved onry, but even the beats lack the luster that anx had and certainly dont even scratch the surface of vessel. this is like a repulsive stepchild of piñata in many ways. what we have is a very poor effort, likely thrown together all too quickly and without any real concern. no one really cares about this group anymore or ever really did for that matter, besides a very select few of us. ultimately vessel and anx will go down like black up and lese majesty will for shabazz. mere lighting in the bottle that we were lucky to have gotten and will never here the likes of anything near the quality again from either respective artist.

I agree the flow is kind of wack, but the main issues I have are thay it's sometimes downright annoying to listen to and there are no hooks or beautiful melodies which they're known to be great at on every other release including that ep even

But yeah the verses too are lacking esp when you compare them to songs like little or no concern and run

7 knots has the weakest hook of all time and it really grates with repeat plays. I was scatterbrained. You were scatterbrained. She was scatterbrained. Your mom was scatterbrained. Your dad's dad was scatterbrained. We're all scatterbrained.

The "Doo dee oh doo" shit in star scream is the most awkward, contrived thing they've ever done.

There are some legitimately good tracks here but I feel like I'd enjoy it way more as an instrumental album

I dont like any songs on it anymore after repeat listens. star scream is laughably bad. as is the entire album. I just went back to vessel and there is no point in jamming lore ever again
