just heard familiars earlier today. gotta say it sounds wayyyyy better than the first single 7 knots. honestly though i'm not overly ecstatic about it and at this point a bit worried about the new album.

Song felt very uncommon for them, especially the decision as to why they decided to pick this as a single. Then again, this grew on me fast and got me intrigued.

if we look at Vessel it could make one a bit tense considering they dropped what may be the best DTS song a week before the lp came out in the form of "all aboard". even more concerning is that it was released in the same way "7 knots/ ayeman" was dropped. that is, it was released as two songs blending into one.
BUT ANX was way different. they dropped "never cry wolf" ahead of the album release and it got torn apart on this site. then they dropped 'take my hand" which is a very popular song off that album, yet I would argue is just average in quality.
all in all I am still a bit luke warm regarding the fate of Lore. I feel like history shows that we are not going to get another single, and that DTS has two full lengths that contain a handful of filler tracks. yet, they make up for that filler with a good string of 6-8 absolute gems. though what scares me the most is them thinking that "7 knots/ayeman" are as good as "sleestack payback/all aboard" were. those two first singles off Lore are so weird and filler tier, it is kind of mind blowing.
what's worse is that Lore is 11 tracks long! so we have 8 left, and you know that at least one is a stupid interlude and 3 others have features. track 4 looks particularly AWFUL. my hope is they are done with singles and that the rest of the album is god tier. I certainly think that this is possible but I am worried. also, no Reva Devito :[. look at me, I sound like such a loser lol dissecting an album from a group that only 4 of us give a flying fuck about. HA!
