""gaudy bends and vibrato makes for a auditory spectacle"

should be 'an'. 'auditory spectacle' is a bit of an oxymoron as well but that's just semantics. Like

the review."

Yeah I thought it sounded cool, so I just put it in; and thanks, I didn't notice I left off the "n" there.

"It's unfortunate that over his career, after this album, his ego just grew while his albums became more stale"

Pretty much; all of his albums have at least a couple awesome songs but Yngwie decided to put out 17 poor-to-decent albums rather than maybe 7-8 great ones.

Hey man, love the review, have to check this dude out. He sounds absolutely amazing. Classical music mixed with metal, that's another breakthrough for sure.

Not really....Yngwie was one of a kind, man. Totally revolutionized playing. THanks for Pos!

but he scalloped his neck just like blackmore, played a white strat just like blackmore and blended classical influences into his shredding just like blackmore

That is all true, but Blackmore was nowhere near the level of Yngwie. Honestly 1/2 the shredders of today aren't as efficient as Yngwie was/is. No disrespect to Blackmore either of course, he rules too!

Really underappreciated album by the rock, metal and even prog-communities. Although it's kinda true that Yngwie's stuff can get kinda boring, because he repeats himself a lot, this doesn't apply to this album. This album is a masterpiece, Icarus' Dream Suite is one of the best sons ever IMO.

Yeah, make sure to check Malmsteen's first band Alcatrazz. It's early 80s metal that ping-pongs between '80s cheese and some good Rainbow sounding stuff. Malmsteen already proves he can take on Ritchie no problem. He hasn't gone fully into the whole neoclassical arpeggio thing, but he still shreds harder than anyone in '83.
