Pretty good album. Submersed's ex-members definitely influenced the music, but the album is probably Tremonti's best work thus far.

Guitars are awesome...vocals are very generic...

I am surprised by this. I always had a feeling Mark Tremonti was a better guitarist than he was letting on in Creed. Especially when I heard the first Alter Bridge single and he shredded through that solo. It made me wonder why he had been fucking around with Creed and those relatively simple guitar riffs for so long. He's not a bad vocalist either. It isn't exactly lead material, but his voice is decent enough.

Agreed. Mark never really got to shine while he was in Creed because Scott Stapp was a bit of an attention whore and didn't want the other band members taking his spotlight. Alter Bridge is where he really got to let loose and show his true talent as a guitarist. His voice is good enough, too. I could definitely see him and Myles doing a few more trade-off vocal songs (eg. Words Darker Than Their Wings) on the next album.

I should have known it was all Scott Stapp's fault. I strongly dislike him.

@chambered Indeed!

@Ecnalzen Yeah, he does a ridiculously good job of making sure everyone hates him in one way or another.

He is one of my top hated front men, along with Bono, Fred Durst, Axl Rose and Chad Kroeger. I respectively dislike all of the bands these guys sing for almost entirely because of them. Except for Nickelback. I just mega-loathe them.

Such a shame that no matter how hard Mark tries to shed (or shred!!!!!) his image from Creed, he will always be under the Stapp curse.
