Oh shit I had zero idea it was out today. I'll listen and give my feedback.

I'm 4 songs in so far and it's definitely much more straightforward and mellowed out than their other releases. I'm enjoying it but I can imagine a lot of people aren't going to be big on it. There's a big fuzz/grunge pop flavor to the tracks.
Edit: Just finished it. There are probably only 3 songs I'd really come back to on my own, being Pass the Nirvana, Even When I'm Not With You, and So Far So Fake.
Best way I can describe the album is made for Gen Z. Doesn't take any risks but each song is at least good and inoffensive but not much stands out either. PtV was always known for their great guitarwork and it's completely missing here.

Had a couple of playthroughs of the new album, and it doesn't do anything for me sadly. Can't recall a single hook either, which is surprising for a band who are amongst the best for that kinda thing

Yeah I'm surprised this is what they came back with after 7 years. I don't think it's bad but it mostly just kind of exists. I don't really like King for a Day but I could remember the hook for it after the first time I heard it. PtV was always great at making earworms and this is pretty devoid of that. Kind of feels like the songs were made to be used in sad TikToks or something.

Sad TikToks lol. Yeah, I wouldn't have minded if they dived deep into the grunge sound, but most of it just feels incredibly flat and bland... Void of any life or character. Pass The Nirvana is probably the best song, mainly because the heavy chorus adds a bit of spice to an otherwise mild curry haha

New album sounds okay, nothing special but still maybe a 3

I am going to listen through the new album but expecting it to be a snooze. Too bad. This album is gold.

soft rock/pop/ballady vibes throughout for the most part. Nirvana was the only heavy one which made it stand out more in context as something i could appreciate. So Far So Fake was pretty great and I liked the opener despite not really having that big hit it needed to be huge. rest was all fine/nice enough/but nothing to write home about

damn ive still never jammed this somehow lol maybe i should do that someday

New album was fine in the worst way. I don’t think I will ever return tbh

Ok has anyone ever noticed how ridiculously similar Bulls in the Bronx is to Mastodon’s Wolf is Loose? I’m just digging back into the Don and I was like holy shit this sounds just like something I’ve heard before and it clicked with me that it was BitB.
To be fair I haven’t been a huge fan of either band in the past so if this is widely known and discussed ignore me lol

New album should have sounded like Pass the Nirvana, with some ballads to balance the chaos (If there was any) .
Probably the biggest disappointment from 2023.

Nah taking back Sunday won that award. But agreed that PTv really really dropped the ball

Yeah, Jaws was a disappointment but not bad. Probably a 3. There are some catchy songs and I kinda like the vibe, but it feels like the band was hamstringing themselves with the musicianship. If they injected just a little bit more of their trademark deceptive technicality it could've been really cool
