@LifeAsAChipmunk Just to clarify, I didn't give this a 4 solely by comparing it to his older stuff, I took every angel into consideration, and I tried to show that I did that in this review.

Here's the test, reviewer:
This album has been released for a little while.
Do you still listen to it or has the appeal worn off?

Album Rating: 2.0
For me, it's worn off completely, I barely hear anyone talk about this since then.. I actually
enjoyed parts of this but I haven't listened since, wow.
Boyfriend is still absolute crap and always will.

@dbizzles How much I personally listen to an album, or an album appealing to my personal tastes has
nothing to do with how good a record is. I listened to The Beatles and Marvin Gaye once and haven't
since, it's not my thing personally so I'm not gonna want to return to it in my spare time, but when I
did listen to it I put my bias aside and fairly judged it. So, I'm not gonna return to something that
doesn't appeal to me, but I don't base my reviews or how good I think an album is off of my own
personal preferences. So your "test" is irrelevant. Besides, I'm far too busy listening to all these
other albums that get released, I barely listen to albums again for fun anymore regardless of what it
is or how much I personally liked it.

"I barely listen to albums again for fun anymore regardless of what it
is or how much I personally liked it." what, why do you even listen to music then?
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.0
@jdennis31 Because I love listening to music for fun? I should probably restate that, I'm overly-
obsessed with exploring new music and listening to new music, so much that I love listening to so many
new albums and I rarely return to old ones for fun. I just have this need to keep listening and
listening to as much as I can, and I love doing that, that's how I roll, I'm sure there are a lot of
people here on this site that are the same. I mean I have records I adore that I'll listen to over and
over again months and years after I've first heard of them, but it's a bit rare since I just listen to
so much and I'd rather keep discovering then go back to what I've already heard.

| |
ahh i see. thought you were saying that you hardly ever go back to any album ever, which seemed odd to me cause i generally assumed one looks for new music in order to find an album that would become a personal gem. i like looking for new music as well but tend to get stuck on a great album for a while

props to you, man, reviewing this and giving it a 4. really well-written review too, though i feel the rating is strictly within the genre.

@barcafan21 Thanks man, and yeah, how this album compares to its contenders in the genre plays a good
part in my rating, but I think it's an excellent pop record in general.

I genuinely like this, and up until this point I couldn't stand Bieber.

I've actually never minded Bieber. I thought My World 2.0 was on a level of excellence as well, it had
really fulfilling production that was a nice break from all the simplistic summery beats of other teen
pop artists, and with Usher's hand in the production there was this nice sense of professionalism
streaking through it that I found impressive considering JB's age at the time.

@breakingwhatever, soooo you listened to this once and gave it a 4? Twice?
The test you mock should be standard in a review of an album, in my opinion. If replay value isn't there, how can anything be rated as a classic (5) or even great? I'm sure you've rated an album as classic or great before, right? Says up there, you do listen to some albums a lot, but as a reviewer, how can you even give a valid rating and analyze something hearing it once over?
You not listening to something more than once that doesn't appeal to you basically discredits any negative review you've ever written and it tells me that if I listened to this for 10 seconds and said it was a .5 to me, that would be fine to you, but it wasn't because you think this is a 4 and I do not.
I devour tons of music as well, but generally I will check things out more than once and I mostly try to listen to the songs others praise the most to see what the appeal is and see if it helps change my point of view.
I did that and listened to the songs you praised most after your backlash at my criticism and I still think Bieber is a joke to pop music and all music in general. I said this blows and you menstruated all over this thread.
Screw off, dude- your opinions are empty and hypocritical. So, I'll be sure to steer clear of any of your other reviews and I definitely won't try to engage in any open conversation with you in the future.
I'm sure everyone on here that agrees with your rating will have your back and cry at me for you, but this isn't an attack on the 'artist' at all. This is an attack on your credibility as a reviewer.

@dbizzles Dude, chill the heck out. I take my time with these things, put a lot of thought into it. It's not like I just breeze through the albums.

got around to reading a lot of this thread and it was fricken amusing. seriously, people can't handle divergent opinions, it's pretty sad. oh and i don't think i've said this yet, but the review is really good.

Thanks man, and yeah, it's pretty funny seeing people respect my review but hate it solely because of the rating.

i want to give this a shot but most reviews have boyfriend as a highlight track, and that song is just fucking horrendous imo
