Review Summary: Blood on the dance floor.

Robin Gibb and Donna Summer's deaths are probably being celebrated right now in distant parts of the world with copious amounts of booze, blow and hookers. It's not so much that death was wished upon these individuals, it's more about celebrating the world becoming more of a disco-free environment. With key figures of the disco past dropping like flies heavy metal has a greater opportunity to dominate the world. Prior to these startling events the international coalition Headbangers Against Disco were kicking ass and taking names with their anti-disco themed extreme metal. Who are these international men of mystery you ask?

Simple. It's a collaboration of some of the world's finest extreme metal bands who decided to join forces to kick disco music in the teeth. Headbangers Against Disco Vol. 1 features Japan's Sabbat, Australia's Bestial Warlust, Sweden's Gehennah, and Norway's Inferno who all decided to unite in 1997 to rid the world of any and all disco influence. With this fearsome foursome's punishing brand of punk/thrash/black metal, disco never even had a chance.

This split features four tracks from the respective four bands. All contribute equally to the violent demise of disco. Sabbat opens with the aptly titled Disco Is ***. A punishing thrash anthem combining fast riffs and snarling vocals, Disco Is *** pummels these polyester wearing ***s into submission. "Rise up rage of grand metal. Steel sword into the fashioned pussy. Shout ! Death to dancin' men. Fire ! And break off the colored penis". Indeed Sabbat indeed.

Gehennah enter the fold with the bold declaration Discodeath. This punk influenced number details the exploits of a gunman entering a disco club and going to town. Blood, gore and death prevail as disco is no more. The bell-bottom wearing mongrels lie dead on the floor. The mid tempo riffs and swagger laced growling of the song masks the songs aggression with surprising upbeat flair. Not the heaviest song on the recording but certainly the catchiest and most memorable.

Now it's Inferno's time to shine. Metal Attack.....the audio battering ram that is designed to crush hippies, trendy crossovers and afro sporting party goers, is a blistering thrash assault from start to finish. With some killer riffage and face-smashing snare abuse, the song does what it's title suggests. When the solo kicks in 10 disco rats have been successfully riffed to death..

Bestial Warlust close the recording in the most brutal and sinister of ways. Exhausted from their lengthy slaughtering the coalition have decided to drink and party to their hearts content. However, before the night is done Bestial Warlust crush skulls and rape souls with their raging black metal violence. Beerz N Blood is a curtain call. Whatever music is playing, whatever neon lights are still illuminating their arrogant flamboyance and whoever is still alive is crushed/maimed/decapitated by the ravenous Australians.

The night has ended. Disco is dead and now we party with the gods. Hail true metal............

It slays unquestionably my most ingenious of compadres. It is indeed most Bestial Warlustian of Bestial Warlust-esque Bestial Warlust material. The quality is most exquisite, cut from the same fine cloth as Vengeance War Till Death.
