I have rarely seen a good idea be as butchered as the 10 minute intro to this album was. Wow, that was unnecessarily boring. Rest of it was pretty good, but I get the feeling either this album really is a grower or this is one heavily overrated band.

You can't really make a statement like that based on this one album (if this is all you've heard so far). You have a slew of other albums to dig through that vary wildly in sound compared to this.
This isn't really a good starting place for Boris.
That said, the intro serves to put you in a sort of mesmerized state before the rest of the album hits. It's a drone album. The repetition is on purpose. If you don't like drone Boris, you should check out their other albums.

Part II is the only part of this album I'm absolutely in love with, not entirely sure on the rest
but yeah, Boris is certainly not a band whose sound you can judge from one record - try Akuma no Uta or Pink those albums show off some sides of Boris that I don't think appear at all on Flood

1 is strictly worse than all of 2 and 3, so it can't be one of the best parts :P. Admittedly I should try listening to it with 1 again, but I still feel that 3 is extremely satisfying without it.

Fair enough, I was just guessing because this is by far their most popular album on here. I'm not a massive drone-head so this is pretty much all I've heard but will check some more of their stuff sometime.
