Souls of Black is my least favourite from their classic line-up, but I understand why so many people love that album. The title track rules.

^I think Testament have managed consistently great output since that album Granted, there were a few necessary breaks between 1999, 2008 and 2012, but most of the bigger thrash bands have only released one record that compares to any of them (Tempo of the Damned, Endgame, Worship Music, etc.). I'm not saying everything else was bad, just that Testament has stood out more with their recent work.

Agreed, their last 2 releases with Skolnick are pretty enjoyable.
These guys have a solid discography and a unique brand of thrash, despite the obvious Metallica influences.

I thought The Gathering was incredibly weak. One of the band's worst, other than the obvious ones.

Actually thought it was one of the best. First two I always found were really weak somehow because they were way too middle of the road and haven't aged well.
